đŸ„Â Introducing Golden Retriever Chase!

Filecoin’s Bedrock team has been focused on enabling retrievals since 2022. In 2022, the team added new retrieval protocols and made performance improvements in the network’s retrieval software. In 2023, Filecoin is rewarding Storage Providers that serve fast and reliable retrievals.

  • Golden Retriever Chase is a community competition that Filecoin is running—in January through March 2023—dedicated to rewarding top data retrievers with fame, recognition, and some FIL to sweeten the taste of victory 🎉
  • Golden Retriever is a new Storage Provider distinction to describe the Storage Providers that meet a minimum set of requirements for serving data retrievals

How Golden Retriever Chase works

  • Over the course of eight weeks starting on January 9, the program will track the performance of all SPs that receive retrieval requests from the IPFS gateway
  • The program will award prizes to the three Golden Retrievers that serve the most retrievals
  • An additional set of 5 prizes will be awarded via a lottery among all Golden Retrievers
  • Filecoin will also promote the winners on Filecoin Twitter, in the SP newsletter, and in Slack!

Rules for Golden Retriever

  • You can become a Golden Retriever by meeting the following criteria:
    • At least 75% success rate for weekly retrievals (from query to successful retrieval)
    • At least 5 retrievals successfully served per week
    • Less than 5 seconds for TTFB (time to first byte)
    • Average retrievals transfer speed of > 0.75 MB/s
  • No action is needed to participate! You just need to qualify as Golden Retriever for 6 out of 8 weeks to be eligible for awards (and rewards)
  • Miners interested in connecting their Miner IDs with their business name can fill out this form—and help us promote your SP business to potential clients and partners!

Golden Retriever Chase Prizes

  • 1st place: The taste of victory and 300 FIL
  • 2nd place: Glory and 200 FIL
  • 3rd place: Recognition for a great showing and 100 FIL
  • 5 lottery prizes: 50 FIL each
  • All SPs that qualified as Golden Retriever will receive sweet Golden Retriever swag
