Jet-lagged and exhausted from a 15-hour flight, Matan stepped out on Sunset Boulevard for the first time in February of 2007. As the sun set over the Hollywood sign, he stood in awe of his new home. He had just immigrated from Israel following the Second Lebanon War, where he and his family had sheltered against rocket attacks in the port city of Haifa, Matan’s birthplace.
